Keep your area rug looking beautiful
In order to keep your area rug looking its best, vacuum once a week to help prevent dirt and debris from building up. Dirt rubbing into your rug’s fibers over time can lead to a shorter overall lifespan, especially in high-traffic areas of the home.
Some rugs, like shag, have cable-like yarns that can wrap around vacuum beater bars. If this happens, remove the beater bar of your vacuum cleaner to avoid damage.
Have the right tools for the job
When spills occur, use warm water and a gentle detergent. Consider blotting the stain with a clean cloth as opposed to rubbing, as rubbing can cause the stain to settle deeper into the fabric. When finished, blot the area dry with a separate cloth, taking care not to leave the rug's fibers saturated.
