Carpet Installation: What to Expect

We want you to be well-prepared on carpet installation day. Knowing what to expect before, during, and after your installation will make for a smoother process. We take pride in our installation services and aim to make the process as painless as possible for you.

Before Installation

We'll start the process by removing all furniture and other objects from the areas to be carpeted. Before your appointment, we'll discuss any unusually large or bulky objects that may require special attention from our team. Before our crew arrives, we'll also need you to empty the contents of any china cabinets, closets, and drawers.

We may also want to discuss a door plan, how we will get the carpeting in and out of your home, and talk about subflooring removal before installation day.

Rest assured that the Custom Floor & Design team will be available to answer any questions that you might have before the installation begins.

During Installation

Be prepared to stay home on your installation day. Your presence will help to ensure that our crew has the right directives and are carpeting the correct areas of your home. We'll do our best, upon arriving, to give you a realistic expectation of how long the job will take.

Your carpet installation crew will be using a variety of tools while working on your carpet. Please make sure that your children and pets are kept out of the work area on installation day. Safety is a top priority for us.

We also recommend that, prior to the completion of the installation, you discuss the goals of the installation with our crew. This will ensure both sides are on the same page and make for a more seamless installation.

After Installation

Good ventilation should be established as some of the chemicals used in carpet construction can emit an odor for as long as 48 to 72 hours after installation. Be prepared to provide the room with adequate ventilation by opening windows & running fans.

Once any potential odors have cleared, you're free to enjoy your new carpet. Should you have any questions after installation, the team at Custom Floor & Design is always available.
