Hardwood Installation: What to expect
Having selected and purchased an elegant hardwood floor, it’s time to prepare for installation day. At Custom Floor & Design we believe that knowing what to expect on installation can help alleviate any concerns and ensure the day goes as smoothly as possible.
Our industry-trained team has compiled the following guide to help you prepare for your installation day.
Our team will start by removing all furniture from the areas where the installation will take place. Before this step, you’ll be responsible for emptying the contents of cabinets, closets, and drawers.
We’ll also discuss how your old floor covering will be disposed of and whether or not any doors will need to be removed to allow entry of materials. This is also the point in the installation process where we encourage our customers to ask any questions that they have about the installation.
Be prepared to stay home on the installation day and be available if the installation crew has questions. Your presence will help ensure that goals are properly communicated and that all questions can be answered.
Your hardwood installers will use a variety of tools during the process that can make the work area hazardous. Please ensure that your children and pets are kept out of the work area while your flooring is being installed.
We also recommend a walk-through of the area with you and one of the installation crew members. This will ensure that both sides are on the same page and allow for last-minute questions before installation.
If you are sensitive to dust and odors, good ventilation should be established for 48 to 72 hours after installation. Open windows & turn on fans, if possible.
After that, we recommend that you simply sit back and enjoy the majesty of your new gorgeous hardwood floors. Should any post-installation questions arise, the team at Custom Floor & Design is always available to you.
